Holiday Book Wall
One of the first things I do every holiday season is switch out my girls book wall. Their room has a bumped out wall so I knew when searching for something that I wanted it to be flat and at their eye level. I ultimately went with these amazing natural book ledges and they have really made book reading fun for them. I love that the girls don’t have to rummage through their books and that they always stay interested in the books as they get rotated.
The thing about books is that they can be expensive if purchased all at once and of course you can’t have a library wall with just one book on it. I’m going to share with you a couple of my tricks to curate a seasonal book wall.
Purchase books over time:
This is what I have done personally. Over the years I have bought one or two books to add to their collection. Some have also been gifted to them for Christmas and I just save them for the following year. I like to think of this option as an investment. I hope to one day pass down a few special books to them so that they can share with their children some day.
Borrow books from the library:
This is a really fun option because your kids can join in on the fun! Plan a day to take a trip to your local library and have your child rummage through and choose the books they want displayed. Set yourself an alarm to remind yourself to return them at the end of the season.
Fill in shelves with decor:
If you’re just starting your collection and only have a few books, that’s ok! You can take a trip to the library to add a few more or you can fill in the ends with some decorations you may already have for the season. The dollar tree is great option for inexpensive wall decorations that you can leave as is or glam up to fit your decor style.
Having a displayed book wall in your kids rooms is a great way to encourage them to read or explore pictures filled with colors to grow their imagination. It’s a magical thing to do for their little minds.
