3 Things Every Crafter Should Do In The New Year

As a crafter, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in our projects and ideas that we let our spaces get out of hand. As the seasons change and we move onto the next holiday, I like to do a quick clean up and switch out my holiday craft supply. Unfortunately that is just a short fix until the end of the year. The first week of January is the perfect time to take a breath, organize and plan. I am going to share with you the top 3 things every crafter should be doing at the beginning of each year.

  1. Clean Your Space

I know that sounds like a no brainer but hear me out. When I say clean your space, I mean purge your space! Go through all of your supplies and get rid of anything that you’re confident you will not be using. If it’s brand new and you think it could find a new home then throw it on Facebook Marketplace and see if you can make a few bucks for your next step. Hang tight it’s coming.

During the cleaning step, make sure that you have fully functional craft storage. I have gone through my share of boxes and crafting stations but my absolute favorite are these two level containers pictured above. I like to organize them by category that way when you’re working on a project you can just grab your box and go. I also love these boxes which I use for paper, stickers and felt storage.

2. Replenish Your Supplies

Now that your space is cleaned up and you know what you actually have, it’s time to replenish or replace some supplies. This is why I mentioned before that you can try to put some older items you may no longer need on Facebook Marketplace to make a few bucks. The things that I blow through seasonally are yarn, hot glue sticks and my favorite velcro strips which I use to put my creations with.

Once you’ve cleaned, purged, and replenished, you’re ready to move on to step three!

3. Plan Your Projects

One trick I have to keeping the cost of crafting down is that I like to plan out my projects at least one month at a time. Keep a crafting planner or journal and set a budget for yourself. When I shop for a crafting planner I like to get one that has a full shot of the whole month as well lots of doodle space in the week so that I can sketch out what’s in my head. If you’re a crafter then you totally get what I mean!

I have always enjoyed these planners. They come in so many sizes and designs so you’re bound to find something that will work for you.

That’s it friends! You’re now ready to start 2022 and get your creativity flowing! I’m looking forward to sharing so many ideas with you this year so let’s get it started!
